Amazing Spaces: The Big Green Bus And Its Love Affair With Brighton

Amazing Spaces big green bus

Adam’s 1982 West Midlands metro double decker bus can’t help but be a funky place.

As a vehicle for mass transportation it had had its day, but as a super cool holiday home it was just beginning when Adam decided to turn it into an amazing space that sleeps 6 people, has a full size kitchen, a lounge and dining room with log burner and luxury wet room.

The source of inspiration and style aesthetic for the bus’s interior into a funky holiday home was actually right on his doorstep.

Brighton is rich in ideas, energy and has a take on seaside life that is like no other. I grew up there myself, and having fun and mucking about on the beach was just part of life.

You so intricately know and understand what the place is all about, it’s history and it’s vibe, and it is fun to dissect it a bit and pull out strands and re-weave them into something new.

Overall its style is funky, modern and free in spirit. Adam, without realising it had already painted much of the carpentry a classy historical, Brighton seafront balustrade green.

Looking at images of Brighton architecture and popular culture, and thinking about our own experiences of the place provided all the ideas we needed.

Old fashioned festoon lights, bold confident colour, mixing traditional Regency with the modern, was all there to be seen in the housing and architecture of the centre of town and the promenade.

This, mixed with the true essence of fantastic fairground art and colour palette of the Palace Pier is what makes Brighton unique.

Adams’ bus is a new take on the ‘Summer holiday’ and now has its more permanent home in a glamping site near Brighton.

Styling it with Adam was a lot of fun as there were no rules to follow, just jumping into the spirit and inspiration of that fantastic town was enough.
