Amazing Spaces Land Rover Cocktail Bar

If you heard about a barman who bought a dilapidated Land Rover and planned to convert it into a cocktail bar then you would be forgiven for thinking he’d probably had one too many. However, this is exactly what Rew has done with his own vintage Land Rover, which now offers a bespoke mobile cocktail service called The 43 Club.

Rew and his team at The 43 Club uses the noble art of mixology to turn drinking culture into an art form, and a unique celebration of tastes and socialisation founded in the values of the great 1920’s.

After the Great War the 1920’s crashed in with a new spirit of optimism and hope, with cities such as New York, Paris, Berlin and London shining out as beacons of creativity and expressionism across music, dance, art and fashion.

The 43 Club Land Rover

The mood of the time was captured beautifully by F. Scott Fitzgerald in The Great Gatsby, and this is exactly the style set by The 43 Club, who have re-imaged in a contemporary way a classic time of indulgence and happy times for anyone to dip into and enjoy.

Focussing on the refreshing uniqueness of the 43 Club, Rew took a British motoring icon, the Land Rover Defender, and turned it into a fully fledged cocktail bar ready to serve anyone, anywhere. This could be in the middle of a field, on a beach, in a back garden or company car park.

Once set up “The Baron” became a completely self contained pleasure vehicle with lighting, sound and a fully stocked bar. Its simple and elegant style has now become the perfect place for Rew and his talented mixologists to work their magic.

To get a taste of what they do, Rew has given ‘my cool..’ a long forgotten cocktail recipe for you to try at home. The only thing known about this drink is it came from Cafe Royal, London around 1937. It has been tweaked slightly by the 43 Club crew into a drink that now works perfectly for any special event or amazing space you might have planned…

The Avenue

30ml Buffalo Trace Bourbon
30ml Calvados
20ml Passion Fruit Puree
20ml Homemade Grenadine 43 Club style (see below)
3ml Orange Blossom Water

Shake all ingredients with cubed ice and serve in a rocks glass over ice. Then for absolute authenticity garnish with orange peel and an orange blossom water mist.

For the mist you can buy a cheap atomiser or perfume spray container from Boots, fill it with the blossom water and spray once over the finished drink.

The 43 Club

Homemade Grenadine
Grenadine should be made with pomegranate juice, but as this is so hard to extract from the fruit most shop bought juice is made with corn syrup and red dye… so make sure you buy 100% pomegranate grenadine or prepare this quick recipe 43 Club Style as an alternative:

2 cups pomegranate juice; a dash of Brandy; squeeze of lemon; sugar to taste and a touch of blossom water.
