small space strategies

Small Space Living

Whether its a caravan, campervan, apartment, shed or similar, there are simple ideas that can be introduced to help make small space living easy and convenient.

Here is a collection of some of the ideas and strategies I have found useful over the years…

Purge And Cleanse

If you don’t love something or need it then you should get rid of it. As a general rule of thumb, I like to say if I haven’t used it in a year then I probably won’t so it’s time to move it on.

One In, One Out

Keeping on top of things is always the best strategy so I find it helpful to use the one in, one out rule. It certainly helps me focus my mind when I’m thinking of buying something, which brings me to my next point.

Buy With Care

I always find that to focus on quality and long-lasting pieces that I love can help me reduce how often I purchase items and the amount of care I put into the buying process. I also consider how well they fit the space before I make my final decision.

Organise

Give everything a place and store as much as possible that you don’t use on a daily basis. This helps with the de-cluttering process, which can be very cathartic and energising if you are becoming bored of your space.

Recycle

I always think about what I need to move on and how it might be used next as I find it more satisfying to recycle rather than throw out. A few options are to sell items on Ebay, give them to the local thrift shop, offer them on Freecycle or attend a local car boot sale.
