Favourite Amazing Spaces In My Cool Kitchen
It’s a pretty crazy busy time of year here in the ‘my cool’ office. I hope that you are enjoying watching series 4 of ‘Amazing Spaces’ have you a favourite build so far? We have a particularly good line up of contributors this series. I’ve loved the 2 episodes that have aired so far, and there are lots more to come.
Working over the years in film and photography I’ve got used to having ‘Christmas’ at various times of the year - usually starting in a hot central London studio in July - and apart from the real deal my next best one will be the re-visits we do as part of the ‘Amazing Spaces Christmas Special’, it’s going to be great to catch up under the Christmas lights with some of the builds over the coming weeks, and hear what’s been happening for them since they were on the series.
Book-wise my newest book ‘my cool kitchen ‘ is gaining a lovely buzz around it, which I am very grateful for as I poured my heart and soul into the making of it.
The book is a celebration of individual style and the fact that you really don’t have to spend £60K on a kitchen or have one that looks like an operating theatre and if, like most of us you have a pretty regular kitchen the book is full of ideas as to how to add some of your spirit and personality into the space and create something inexpensively that you can feel proud of. Needless to say, if your kitchen is already pretty wowza have a look and share the joy with the 35 or so kitchen owners in there.
One of my favourite kitchens in the book is at Matieu Merciers flat. This feature image above is looking from the library sitting room into the kitchen. It is Moraima (Mathieus wife) with my researcher, Emily and myself. They live in a classic Parisian Haussman apartment overlooking the treetops of a park. They added a very clever window that stops the kitchen being hidden away and cut off in a separate room. Instead it becomes framed by the incredible library of art books (what a dream they were), which makes it a hugely interesting feature on both sides of the wall. This is what it looks like from the other side.
I have many other favourite kitchens in the book, but most of all I’d love to hear about yours. Send me a quick email and let me know what it is. I’d love to hear from you.
Jane
